Passports

Effective September 6, 2022 US Passport Office is accepting ONLY for five (5) day service. Applications can be submitted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. New/renewed passports will be sent directly to the applicant’s home address after the 5-day period. The regular processing time is up to 4-5 weeks. Travelers who need to apply/renew a passport due to a life-or-death emergency have to make an appointment at the passport center.

US Passport Processing Service

  • Renew your passport when the validity is less than six (6) months and/or has less than two (2) blank ‘Visa’ pages.
  • Passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your travel.
  • Passport must always have a minimum of 2 blank “visa” pages. Traveling to multiple countries back to back requires 2 blank visa pages per country. Half pages are not valid.
  • Passport application MUST be completed online at www.travel.state.gov
  • Applicants between 0 to 16 years old must apply for a new passport every 5 years.

a. First Time Passport Applicant

First-time passport applicants are advised to take the following documents with an appointment to the local Post Office/Passport Center.

Requirements:

  1. Fill out Form DS-11 online, print (but DO NOT SIGN APPLICATION). You are required to sign at the Post Office.
  2. Original Birth Certificate or Naturalization papers.
  3. One (1) Passport photo, according to the U.S. Immigration Department guidelines, (2 x 2 passport size photo with white background and without glasses).
  4. Check for $130.00 (regular service) made payable to the US State Department or $100 for an applicant under 16 yrs old.
  5. Pay $35.00 to the Post Office/Passport Center for its service fee. The Post Master will mail documents for processing.

For expedited service, please provide the following documents to the Post Master to be included inside the sealed envelope:

  1. The first three documents listed above (#1, 2, & 3).
  2. Check for $190 (expedited service) made payable to the US State Department or $160 for an applicant under 16 yrs old.
  3. Flight itinerary.
  4. Authorization letter from GC Visa/Passport office, signed and dated, to drop the application and pick up the new passport from the State Department.
  5. Bring the sealed envelope to the GC Visa/Passport Office.

Please note: For children under 16 yrs, parents MUST be present with ID.

b. Passport Renewal

To renew your Passport, you can apply at any Post Office for regular service. However, if expedited service is needed, please provide the following documents to the GC Visa/Passport Office:

  1. Current Passports (and card if you possess one). Passports must have been issued within the last 15 years. Apply for a new passport if expired more than 15 years
  2. Passport application Form DS-82 completed online (print, sign, and date).
  3. One (1) Passport photo, according to the U.S. Immigration Department guidelines, (2 x 2 passport size photo with white background and without glasses).
  4. Flight itinerary
  5. Authorization letter from GC Visa/Passport office, signed and dated, to drop the application and pick up the renewed passport from the State Department.
  6. Original supporting legal documents if renewing to make personal data changes.

c. Request or Renew a Second US Passport

Provide the following to request a second passport:

  1. Current Passport (and card if you possess one).
  2. Passport application Form DS-82 completed online (print, sign, and date).
  3. One (1) Passport photo, according to the U.S. Immigration Department guidelines, (2 x 2 passport size photo with white background and without glasses).
  4. Flight itinerary
  5. Authorization letter from GC Visa/Passport office, signed and dated, to drop your application and pick up your renewed passport from the State Department.
  6. A letter justifying the need for a second passport. Modified the attached sample letter with appropriate information. Print and signed.

d. Request or Renew a US Passport Card

If requesting a passport card, provide the following:

  1. Current Passport (and card if you possess one for renewal). Card must have been issued within the last 15 years.
  2. Passport application Form DS-82 completed online (print, sign, and date).
  3. One (1) Passport photo, according to the U.S. Immigration Department guidelines, (2 x 2 passport size photo with white background and without glasses).
  4. Flight itinerary
  5. Authorization letter from GC Visa/Passport office, signed and dated, to drop your application and pick up your renewed passport from the State Department.

e. Lost or Stolen Passport

  1. Report immediately lost or stolen passport by filling out Form DS-64 (Note: To find the form, please click on US Passport, then download form). Submit the form online and print out the receipt.
  2. At the same time, fill out Form DS-11  to apply for a new passport.  Print the form, DO NOT SIGN, and take it to the Post office with the following documents:
  • The DS-64 receipt.
  • One (1) Passport photo, according to the U.S. Immigration Department guidelines, (2 x 2 passport size photo with white background and without glasses).
  • Original Birth certificate or Naturalization papers.
  • Check for $130 (regular service) made payable to the US State Department.
  • Pay $35.oo to the Post office/Passport Center for its service fee. The Post Master will send your documentation for regular processing.

For expedited service, please provide the following documents to the Post Master to be included inside the envelope, and bring the sealed envelope to the GC Visa/Passport Office.

  1. The first three bulleted items above.
  2. Completed and signed Form DS-11
  3. Check for $190 made payable to the US State Department.
  4. Flight itinerary.
  5. Authorization letter from GC Visa/Passport office, signed and dated, to drop your application and pick up your renewed passport from the State Department.
